Wrainbow Goes to Indianapolis
Join your friends from the Wrainbow as we make a special trip to Indianapolis for the November 21st Big Band dance at the Indiana Roof. Tickets are $14 per person. Please RSVP no later than September 24th so that we can order a block of tickets for our group and get information out for participants to coordinate travel arrangements.
Just Make It Happen--Let's Dance Weekend
The date has been set for the 6th annual Let's Dance Weekend in at the Duke Ellington Ballroom, Holmes Student Center, Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the event July 15-17, 2011. 25 rooms have been reserved at the Holmes Student Center ($75/night), 10 rooms have been reserved at the Dekalb Best Western ($65/night), and 10 rooms at the Magnuson Inn/Suites (former Baymont Inn) ($62/night). Reference "Let's Dance" when you make your reservation. Reserve your room early, as there there are other events the same weekend that rooms fill up quickly!
Miller Park Dances
Cathy Hempstead hosts a dance at the Miller Park Pavilion. Dance to recorded music from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for $7 per person. Dances are the first Sunday of the month.
Lafayette Club Dances
Though at one time a "Singles Dance" Opportunity and still called a Central Illinois Singles Dance, the Lafayette Club dances are available to all dancers and feature a wide selection of music. Duke Babb DJs and there are sometimes "theme" dances. $10 per person. We've heard that Singles dances will be held through 2010 on the 4th Friday of the month, unless other arrangements are noted in the Pantagraph; you may want to call the Lafayette Club ahead of time to confirm.
Eagles Club Fridays
The Bloomington Eagles Club has a live band on Friday nights (opposite the singles dances) with $5 cover. Non-Eagles members are welcome.
Prairie Land Dance Center, Illiopolis
A large (4,000 sq ft.) hardwood dance floor with plenty of space for multiple styles of dancing. Check their website pldc.org for information about dance events. They generally host ballroom dances the 3rd Saturday of the month in addition to periodic West Coast Swing lessons/dances.
